Son says cases against former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his family are based on lies

Kuala Lumpur – Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s son claims his family’s involvement in the trial was influenced by public perception.

Datuk Mohd Nazfuddin Najib posted on Facebook on Monday (December 23) (picture) Said the case against the former prime minister was built on lies, half-truths and political ambitions.

“I’m talking about lives destroyed, families torn apart, dignity trampled on, based on baseless accusations, hastily fabricated and filled with revenge and hatred,” he said.

He further claimed that the trial was conducted in a rushed and sloppy manner.

“How else do we explain that courts have to drop cases that are clearly just political games? This has nothing to do with justice. This is about revenge,” he said.

According to him, Najib has proven himself innocent of any wrongdoing at every trial he has faced, but the persecution continues, fueled by those who put politics over truth.

“Baseless cases waste time, legal fees and people’s money,” he said.

On October 30, the High Court ordered Najib to plead to four counts of using his position to obtain RM2.28 billion in payments from 1MDB funds, as well as 21 counts of money laundering involving the same amount.

On Thursday (December 13), Najib finished reading 525 pages of witness statements that lasted eight days.

The hearing will continue on January 6.
