Based on Singapore RSP architects, planners and engineersA design firm owned by Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim says it has been attacked by Ismail Johor Regent (ROJ), develop a sprawling beachfront estate that will be the royal private residence in the coastal town of Desaru, southeast Malaysia.

“This collaboration has a special significance and is the influence of years of mutual respect and understanding among our families,” Kiat Lim, 32, the son of RSP chairman and health care tycoon Peter Lim, said in a statement. “It is a rare privilege to bring such an important personal project into life on this iconic coastline.”

The residential estate costs more than $200 million and will be built on 27 hectares of land in De Saru by the Royal Family and is expected to take four years to complete, the statement said. In addition to the royal villa, it will feature a hotel, a children’s club and sports facilities. It will also have an underground shooting range and an armory that can accommodate up to 100 soldiers serving in ROJ security.

“This residence is more than just a home,” said in a statement. “This residence is more than just a home,” said Malaysian King Ibrahim Iskandar in a statement. “This reflects family, heritage and partnership. The collaboration with RSP is built not only on excellent design but also on my intimate family relationship with Kiat and his father.” Kiat and Regent have a passion for football. The royal family owns a lot of land in the Iskanda region of Johor in southern Malaysia, and Malaysia and Singapore are developing into special economic zones together. ROJ is responsible for overseeing the development of the inheritance of his family.

In June, ROJ agreed to exchange his family’s 13 hectares of land at the Singapore Botanical Gardens for the same value of the nearby 8.5 hectares of state land, according to Urban Redeppervement Authority. “The Singapore government and ROJ agreed to conduct land exchange so that the development of the ROJ program will be away from the Singapore Botanical Gardens,” Ura said at the time.

RSP’s past projects include Jewelry at Changi Airport (in collaboration with Safdie Architects) and Armani Hotel & Residences Diriyah in Saudi Arabia. Revenue is expected to exceed S$100 million this year, up from S$92 million in 2024. With a net worth of approximately US$1.8 billion, Lim is Singapore’s wealthiest, with stakes in Singapore-listed hospital operator Thomson Medical and Spanish football club Valencia.
