Times System predicts risk with 82% accuracy.

* Researchers at the Institute of Star Molecular and Cell Biology (A*Star IMCB) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH) have developed an AI-driven scoring system to predict recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common form of liver cancer.

Titled “Tumor Immune Microenvironment Space (Times) Score”, the system predicts the risk of recurrence with approximately 82% accuracy by analyzing the precise spatial distribution of “natural killer” cells in liver tumor tissue and five specific genes.

“In Singapore, up to 70% of patients with liver cancer experience relapse within five years,” said A*Star IMCB’s principal investigator and principal investigator and principal investigator of the Department of Anatomical Pathology.

The researchers used samples of 231 patients from five hospitals to verify the Times system.

They also make the technology researchable through a free web portal and plan to integrate time into routine clinical workflows.

In addition, the team is planning to conduct further validation studies at SGH and the National Cancer Centre in Singapore, which is scheduled to begin later this year.

Discussions are being conducted with diagnostic partners to develop the system into a clinically recognized diagnostic test suite.
