sixty Teaching Hospital According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, in South Korea, the “2025 Training Environment Innovation Program” has been selected for trainee doctors.
Starting in September this year, participating hospitals will receive stipends from supervisory experts based on their roles and increased training workload.
They will also receive funding for operational training programs such as in-house training, case meetings and workshops.
Funds vary by hospital size and location, ranging from $21,679 (KRW30M) for smaller hospitals to $216,781 (KRW300M) for larger institutions.
Support for facility improvements and equipment will also be provided, focusing on regional hospitals to build local training capabilities.
The program is expected to provide priority support for the establishment of training systems for interns and eight core majors.
These specialties include internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency medicine, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery.
